Joshua 1:1-9

Filed under: Scripture,Uncategorized — joshua de quilettes @ 6:01 am

Joshua 1:1
Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said,

until now Joshua was the #2 man Moses’ the assistant, his helper, his wing man… don’t forget some back ground after the spies that Moses had sent… the reports that came back were bad, the people were stronger then we are… they were giants and the cities fortified and very large.

Joshua all those years under Moses knew how the people were mummering and complaining and most likely taught the next generation to be the same…

Joshua 1:2
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

“Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them.

Jos 1:3

I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—

Jos 1:4

from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’

Jos 1:5

No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

Jos 1:6

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Jos 1:7

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Jos 1:8

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Jos 1:9

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

How did Joshua know for certain that he was the person God had chosen to lead Israel? After the dead of Moses, God began to speak to and through Joshua. This encouraged him to lead the people of Israel and with an unmistakable authority that prompted the leader of Israel to say. “We will do whatever you command us” Joshua prefigured the ministry of Christ, who was the living Word of God. How can you exude confidence? How can you command respect? By heeding God’s Word. If you are not a leader, then commit to following those who obey God’s Word.

what is God teaching me?

Filed under: Scripture — joshua de quilettes @ 7:34 pm

i’ve been dealing with a health issue for more than a year i just didn’t realize or except it. i see now that back in april the Lord allowed me to be on furlough from my job which i gave most of my time to (37 1/2 years) thinking that i would be going back to work i didn’t look for a new job. being off work i was able to volunteer more of my time at our church helping my pastor stay online at a difficult time when many people needed to hear from God’s Word. the beginning of july i was asked to come back to work, signed paperwork but that was put on hold and by the end of the month i was let go from employment. by august my health was getting worst so i finally went to the doctor. the whole process till today with my health journey has been a very painfully slow process with diagnosis to insurance approvals. we both continue to trust in God’s ways in taking care of us financially and in our health. my sister had told me once that i wanted to have God’s 2 month plan. it’s been difficult to live one day at a time – the journey continues, it’s not about us we need to pray and help the many in the world lost with no hope…

Isaiah 40:31 -“but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 46:4, GNT I am your God and will take care of you until you are old and your hair is gray. I made you and will care for you; I will give you help and rescue you.

Matthew 6:25-26, ESV Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

1 Peter 5:7, NLT Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Philippians 4:6-7, ESV Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Lavender Oil

Lavender Oil:

Lavender (lavandula angustifolia) is the most versatile of all essential oils. Most commonly known for its relaxing effects on the body, therapeutic-grade lavender has been highly regarded for the skin. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises and skin irritations. The fragrance is calming, relaxing and balancing – physically and emotionally. Carrying a bottle of lavender around with you is like having your own personal first aid kit, perfume and pick-me-up.

Here are 13 ways to use Lavender.

1. Calming
Rub 2-3 drops of lavender oil in your cupped palms, then use the inhalation method to draw the scent all the way into your amygdala gland (the emotional warehouse) in your brain to calm the mind. Then, rub on the feet, temples, wrists (or anywhere) for an immediate calming effect on the body. Great for use in crowded areas like planes or subways to carve out your own personal oasis.

2. Sleep aid
Again, use the cupping and inhalation method. Then, rub a drop of Lavender oil on your palms and smooth on your pillow to help you sleep.

3. Bee sting / Insect bite
Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching reduce swelling.

4. Minor burn
Put 2-3 drops Lavender oil on a minor burn to decrease pain. I recently did this after I spilled scorching hot tea on my hand at Starbucks and luckily had my lavender with me. Result: NO redness, swelling or pain. NO sign of any burn. Lavender works wonders!

5. Cuts
Drop Lavender oil on cut to stop bleeding, clean wound, and kill bacteria.

6. Eczema / Dermatitis
Mix several drops of Lavender oil with a nut or vegetable mixing oil (coconut, sesame, etc) and use topically on eczema and dermatitis. I have a dear friend who suffers from severe eczema and swears by this.

7. Nausea or motion sickness
To alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness, place a drop of Lavender oil on end of tongue, behind the ears or around the navel.

8. Nosebleed
To stop a nosebleed, put a drop of lavender oil on a tissue and wrap it around a small chip of ice. Push the tissue covered ice chip up under the middle of the top lip to the base of the nose and hold as long as comfortable or until the bleeding stops (do not freeze the lip or gum).

9. Dry or chapped skin
Rub lavender oil on dry or chapped skin.

10. Chapped or sunburned lips
Rub a drop of lavender oil on chapped or sunburned lips.

11. Hay fever.
Rub a drop of lavender oil between your palms and inhale deeply to help alleviate the symptoms of hay fever.

12. Dandruff.
Rub several drops of lavender oil into the scalp to help eliminate dandruff.

13. Cold sores.
Put a drop of lavender oil on a cold sore.

Add a few drops of lavender to any recipe you want to enhance. Favorites: add to your water or tea (especially sparkling!), brownies, bars, cookies, dessert recipes, raw chocolate or salad dressings. Enjoy!
As you can see, Lavender is an essential oil that can uplift your life (and mood), heal and entice in a variety of ways. It’s a great secret weapon to have on hand at all times!

A Whisper of Words

A Whisper of Words

A collection of words we somehow put together to form poetry, prose and music; because sometimes God whispers like poetry in motion, speaks when it only makes sense to our spirits and sings so our hearts can hear.

10 Questions a Pro-Choice Candidate Is Never Asked by the Media

Filed under: Politics — Tags: — joshua de quilettes @ 2:40 am
Debate moderators and reporters love to ask pro-life candidates hard questions about abortion. Curiously, they don’t do the same for pro-choice candidates.

Here are 10 questions you never hear a pro-choice candidate asked by the media:

1. You say you support a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices in regards to abortion and contraception. Are there any restrictions you would approve of?

2. In 2010, The Economist featured a cover story on “the war on girls” and the growth of “gendercide” in the world – abortion based solely on the sex of the baby. Does this phenomenon pose a problem for you or do you believe in the absolute right of a woman to terminate a pregnancy because the unborn fetus is female?

3. In many states, a teenager can have an abortion without her parents’ consent or knowledge but cannot get an aspirin from the school nurse without parental authorization. Do you support any restrictions or parental notification regarding abortion access for minors?

4. If you do not believe that human life begins at conception, when do you believe it begins? At what stage of development should an unborn child have human rights?

5. Currently, when genetic testing reveals an unborn child has Down Syndrome, most women choose to abort. How do you answer the charge that this phenomenon resembles the “eugenics” movement a century ago – the slow, but deliberate “weeding out” of those our society would deem “unfit” to live?

6. Do you believe an employer should be forced to violate his or her religious conscience by providing access to abortifacient drugs and contraception to employees?

7. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. has said that “abortion is the white supremacist’s best friend,” pointing to the fact that Black and Latinos represent 25% of our population but account for 59% of all abortions. How do you respond to the charge that the majority of abortion clinics are found in inner-city areas with large numbers of minorities?

8. You describe abortion as a “tragic choice.” If abortion is not morally objectionable, then why is it tragic? Does this mean there is something about abortion that is different than other standard surgical procedures?

9. Do you believe abortion should be legal once the unborn fetus is viable – able to survive outside the womb?

10. If a pregnant woman and her unborn child are murdered, do you believe the criminal should face two counts of murder and serve a harsher sentence?

Vote Biblical Values

Filed under: Events — Tags: — joshua de quilettes @ 5:08 pm

Billy Graham

The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great nation is crucial. As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.

Billy Graham

About Me

John 15 (NIV) 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
