NBC edits “under God” out of Pledge – twice! Demand an explanation!

Filed under: info,Videos — Tags: — joshua de quilettes @ 2:30 pm

June 21, 2011

NBC introduced its Sunday coverage of the US Open golf championship with a patriotically-themed piece, which included two recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance by American schoolchildren.

Astonishingly, NBC edited the words “under God” out of the Pledge not once but twice. Then an NBC commentator apologized on air later in the broadcast, admitting that NBC had edited the Pledge, but saying nothing, absolutely nothing, about which part of the Pledge NBC deliberately left on the cutting room floor.

Haggai 1.
3 Then the Lord sent this message through the prophet Haggai:
4 “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?
5 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!
6 You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!
7 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!
8 Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the Lord.

Good News and Bad News on ABC’s Fall Line Up

Filed under: info — Tags: — joshua de quilettes @ 5:06 am

Starting with the good news, after tens of thousands of OMM members signed a petition a couple of months ago encouraging ABC to drop all plans of airing the program “Good Christian B-tches” this fall, the network has announced they will change the name to “Good Christian Belles.” This means profanity will not used or insinuated in the title and be listed in television guides, listings and schedules. Your voice was heard! The bad news is ABC is going forward with airing this Christian bashing program. The graphic they have chosen to illustrate the title of the new series is a close-up of a woman’s chest squeezed into a low-cut top. This image includes her wearing a cross necklace that falls right to her cleavage, which is exactly where the camera is focused on. This show is described as a wicked new drama that digs up sins from the characters’ past and leads to scandal. They make sure no one is a saint, and the revenge and scheming involving church members is like no one has seen before on network television. In the trailer provided by ABC, a man attempts to grope and touch a woman inappropriately in the church sanctuary and then continues with obsessive staring, and many others gossip, all portraying Christians in a negative light. The preview includes the use of foul language as well. Networks like ABC continue to mock Christianity and we will not stand for it. Some in the entertainment business have gone too far, for too long. Christians should no longer sit idly by and allow it to continue without speaking up in protest. TAKE ACTION Please send an email letter strongly encouraging ABC and parent company Disney to drop all plans to air the anti-Christian program “Good Christian Belles.” Tell them you are prepared to join thousands of other voices in urging advertisers to place it on their “do not advertise” list and consider pulling all ads from the ABC network in protest of this Anti-Christian bigotry. Light and Darkness

Filed under: Scripture — Tags: , — joshua de quilettes @ 3:06 pm

A simple ray of light tears the darkness and illuminates the surface where the light beam finishes. Dark is a term we have created to describe what happens when there’s lack of light.

You can see a small light in the darkness, but you can’t see a small darkness in the light!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (KJV)
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”
Genesis 1:3-4 (KJV)
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light;
to go by day and night”
Exodus 13:21 (KJV)
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Matthew 6:22-23 (KJV)
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and
more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness:
they know not at what they stumble.”
Proverbs 4:18-19 (KJV)
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)
“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6 (NIV)
“O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me;
let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.”
Psalm 43:3 (KJV)
“You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.”
1 Thessalonians 5:5-10 (NIV)
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”
Isaiah 60:1-3 (KJV)
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1 (KJV)
“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”
Psalm 36:9 (KJV)
“But the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV)
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord:
walk as children of light”
Ephesians 5:8 (KJV)
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him
who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
1 John 1:5 (KJV)
Jerusalem – the capital of the State of Israel and ancient capital of the Kingdom of Israel. Founded by King David, Jerusalem is sacred to the three principal monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Jerusalem is old. In 1996 Jerusalem celebrated its 3,000th birthday. Jerusalem is young. 30% of Jerusalem’s population is under the age of 12.
Jerusalem is a city full of both antique sites and modern attractions. The walls of the Old City surround an inner world of faith, ancient culture and mystery. Yet within a relatively short distance one encounters the world of high technology, cutting-edge scientific research and 21st century design.
Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government, the Knesset, her Supreme Court and the location of her largest educational institution, the Hebrew University.
Jerusalem is noted for is unique beauty complimented by its agglomeration of sights, smells and sounds. These can be experienced in a stroll through either the Old City shuk or West Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda market. But it is also is a city filled with gardens, parks, sculpture, outdoor cafes, museums and music.
Tradition says “Ten parts of beauty were bestowed upon the earth; of these, nine were given to Jerusalem”.
Friendship and Sacrifice
Filed under: Scripture — Tags: , — joshua de quilettes @ 4:09 pm
WE WILL NEVER KNOW THE JOY of self-sacrifice until we surrender in every detail of our lives. Yet self-sacrifice is the most difficult thing for us to do. We make it conditional by saying, “I’ll surrender if . . . !” Or we approach it by saying, “I suppose I have to devote my life to God.” We will never find the joy of self-sacrifice in either of these ways.
But as soon as we totally surrender, abandoning ourselves to Jesus, the Holy Spirit give us the taste of His joy. The ultimate goal of self-sacrifice is to lay down our lives for our Friend. *
When the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, our greatest desire is to lay down our lives for Jesus. Yet the thought of self-sacrifice never even crosses our minds, because sacrifice is the Holy Spirit’s ultimate expression of love.
Our Lord is our example of a life of self-sacrifice, and he perfectly exemplified, ** “I delight to do Your will, O my God . . .” He endured tremendous personal sacrifice, yet with overflowing joy. Have I ever yielded myself in absolute submission to Jesus Christ? If He is not the One to whom I am looking for direction and guidance, then there is no benefit in my sacrifice. But when my sacrifice is made with my eyes focused on Him, slowly but surely His molding influence becomes evident in my life. ***
Beware of letting your natural desires hinder your walk in love before God. One of the cruelest ways to kill natural love is through the rejection that results from having built the love on natural desires. But the one true desire of a saint is the Lord Jesus. Love for God is not something sentimental or emotional – for a saint to love as God loves is the most practical thing imaginable.
“I have called you friend. . .” Our friendship with Jesus is based on the new life He created for us, which has no resemblance or attraction to our old life but only to the life of God. It is a life that is completely humble, pure, and devoted to God.
* John 15:13-15 NKJV
13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
** Psalm 40:8 NKJV
8 I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
*** Hebrews 12: 1-2 NKJV
The Race of Faith
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
MANHATTAN DECLARATION: A CALL OF CHRISTIAN CONSCIENCE
PREAMBLE
Christians are heirs of a 2,000-year tradition of proclaiming God’s word, seeking justice in our societies, resisting tyranny, and reaching out with compassion to the poor, oppressed and suffering.
While fully acknowledging the imperfections and shortcomings of Christian institutions and communities in all ages, we claim the heritage of those Christians who defended innocent life by rescuing discarded babies from trash heaps in Roman cities and publicly denouncing the Empire’s sanctioning of infanticide. We remember with reverence those believers who sacrificed their lives by remaining in Roman cities to tend the sick and dying during the plagues, and who died bravely in the coliseums rather than deny their Lord.
Do not neglect doing good
Filed under: Scripture — Tags: , — joshua de quilettes @ 5:19 pm
Even in Jesus’ most trying hour, He still attended to the needs of those under his care. As the oldest son in His family, He was responsible for His mother.
John 19:27 And He said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
He made sure that she had someone to care for her. When we go through trails and pain, we usually think only about ourselves. But in Jesus, we see the example of how to endure with sensitivity to both others’ needs as well as our own. If you are in the midst of a time adversity, ask Jesus to help you see the needs of others around you. Pay special attention to the elderly in your family and honor them by making sure they are cared for during difficult times. (Do not neglect doing good)
Ephesians 6:2-3 NKJV
2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Jesus and His mother Mary
About Me
John 15 (NIV) 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
